okay
here is the second post that is less depressing.
this is for my cousin esp. since we always run out of ideas on what to eat when we need to go out for dinner haha.
----------------------
Who?: Jade Pot Restaurant
Where?: No.5, Grd Flr, Plaza Prismaville, Jalan 19/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur
What?: Steamboat (that was like a 'duh' moment lol)
normally I'd go to Hartamas to eat at my usual Korean foodies. but tonight mum decided she needed something soupy. not meat that was bbq-ed. *rolls eyes* fine.
but can't say i wasn't happy about it.
but i had a bad experience once with a steamboat restaurant.
the restaurant was right next to Fong Lye, another quite well-known restaurant for the sweet potato porridge and all. so i was like wondering how can this place survive next to such a competitior.
first impression was good. nice deco. friendly staff. there was one extremely funny waiter btw who kept insisting we must try their tea and it was free. i think he was joking. but the tea set was really pretty. i love random shape. i mean heck, it looked like it was going to topple over. how's that for artistic?

they had a a wide range of choices on the menu, that's def to note. loads of choices, honestly. i seriously just wanted to try like, everything but you know mum with the "don't over order and waste my money" kinda thing. so i just took some random photo with a bunch of the stuff we ordered. that's not all btw, just only the tray which i thought was pretty strange. i mean, don't they only use this to put high tea stuff like scones and muffins?

and they have a couple of soup choices. if i'm not mistaken, 4 choices. but we ended ordering just two. the tomyum and the clear one.

and i couldn't help noticing this isolated looking tray full of random looking sauces. hmm. looks suspicious. but my mum had to ruin the whole mysterious fun by saying it's chilli sauce etc. to eat with the food. sigh.
people these days. they aren't fun anymore.
plus, the green stuff is also chilli. the black stuff is soya sauce (i think, can't remember) and i have NO CLUE what that cream coloured thing is. was too chicken to try it haha. my brother said it was cream cheese sauce.
*rolls eyes* haha very funny.

the meat came. most of the ingredients here are quite fresh. no smell whatsoever. veggies were good. i think that's pork? (sorry my muslim buddies). but seriously you don't know what you're missing out haha.
so this is what my bowl looked like. i think i remember now what the plain soup was. it was some superior soup. it had like yam. okay, for those who aren't too fond of yam, before you get put off, let me just say
i hate yam too!
i was thinking, no way i was going to drink that. but it actually tasted good. i couldn't taste the yam at all. trust me. this is coming from someone who can spot a half inch piece of coriander on her steam fish.
and this is what the tomyum one looked like. brother's bowl.
honestly, this is one of the most AMAZING end-of-the-dinner-deserts. seriously, after all that oily stuff and salty things, this lemony jelly that is really smooth and cold is just ultimately heaven.
okay, to put it simple. awesome.
Verdict?
Not bad. I mean, it is something different for me since I don't eat much steamboat. good difference from the usual culprit most of the time. i'd say give it a go. even if you aren't a fan of steamboat, it's worth a try. price? er. well...
if budget is going to be an issue though, i think i'm going to review a mamak store next time. lol. how's that?
x
